Shuckburgh Hall

Shuckburgh Hall

Shuckburgh Hall (pictured above) has its origins in the 14th and 15th centuries and is a privately owned country house mansion, not generally open to the public. The house has Grade II* listed building status. The estate has been the home of the Shuckburgh family since the 12th century. At the beginning of the 1800’s, Sir Stanley Shuckburgh disapproved of his daughter courting a Lieut. Sharp. The tensions escalated and this resulted in Sharp shooting his beloved then turning the gun on himself. This is said to have caused the haunting phenomena reported there.
